God’s providence

So talk about God’s crazy providence! Last monday, I fell asleep at the wheel on the way back from Boston and totalled my 2007 Honda Civic. When I bought the car in May of 2007, it’s price was 19,800. At the beginning of this week my dad calls me and tells me that he received the check from the totalling of my car for 19,100. I only lost about 700 dollars right? Not even. Get this. Today, we go looking for a used car. My dad negotiates a brand new 2008 Honda Civic, exactly the same color as my previous one for 19,100. So essentially, for a little car accident less than 1,000 bucks, I have a brand new car. Only God could take my stupidity and weakness and turn it into a blessing. Praise God, for real. =]

barefoot realization #2

so a few weeks ago i was on my way to lunch with debo, langy, and kdave. it was the first time it had really rained since i’ve been going barefoot. i had to park in kleman plaza, which was about 4 blocks away, because there weren’t any metered spots that were open on the street in front of the deli at which we were eating. as i’m walking outside with my umbrella i noticed how slick the nicely tiled parts of the sidewalks are, so it sort of became a game to keep my balance and not fall all over the place. fun fun! and then i get to the interesting part…

you know right over the edge of the sidewalk where it slopes down to the road? well when it rains, water tends to flow down them and when it rains hard, sometimes you get this awesome little streams of water running all over the city. well, as i’m getting ready to cross the street i see all these nicely dressed businessmen and women running around these little ditches trying not to get their nice 70 dollar shoes wet or their 120 dollar suit-pants dirty. and i just walked right through probably 4-5 inches of rushing water and it was awesome! i’ve never felt that much rushing water running over my feet before. it was such a cool experience. talk about feeling like a kid and taking pleasure in the small things. never have i had that much fun playing in puddles, but it was awesome and now i do it every chance i get. =]
